Not enough days in a week to train, work and live.....

Yes this week I definitely ran out of time to fit in everything I needed and wanted to do. I had to think about the whole work/train/life balance thing again and had to prioritise everything I wanted to do.
I have to earn a living and sadly running does not pay for it, so I cannot change my 2 day and 2 night shifts this week. I also am lucky enough to have a loving family so want to make time for them.  So I had to adjust how often I run and how far. On top of that I had to be sensible as I am still recovering form this virus infection I had last week.
That said I managed to fit 2 runs in; one medium and one short distance run as well as completing most of my daily challenges.
Let me tell you about my first run I ran on Thursday, which was the first day I felt good again but when I started running this feeling ebbed away very quickly and my body, legs and brain felt tired, heavy and sluggish. I was aiming to run 2 hours but after only about 3 miles I wanted to stop and go home but decided to go on. I finished one of my planned two laps and left it at that as I did not want to push myself too far knowing I had to work that same night. Once I finished my run I felt a bit disappointed and did not look at my time or anything just finished, saved and published it. The response I got from fellow tweeters was amazing and I realised that even so it was a shortened run my avg pace was good so after that I was happy.
My second run was on Saturday after a night shift (without any sleep) I wanted to go out for a short fastish run and I felt good during the run. At times my legs felt tired but my head was switched on so I was pleased with it and about the time I did it in.
I was hoping to go for another run on Sunday but I decided to spend it  with my family on a day out and we had n amazing day which will give me positive memories to give me strength when my ultra is tough going.

Stats Zone:
Runs: 2
Distance covered this week: 16.4 miles
Distance covered this month: 38.79 miles

  1. I feel your pain! It's a nightmare balancing it all, but hey we do what we can. Some weeks just getting the trainers in counts! All will be well and all manner of things will be well as they say! :-)
